Perth Anime and Art Convention

Tokyo Alley is a not-for-profit and registered charity organisation, supporting the local Western Australian pop-culture and artist community since 2016.Tokyo Alley was first established at Tokyo Underground in conjunction with local Perth artists. Our humble beginnings have seen it grow into a regular events throughout the year, aiming to bring Perth talent together under one roof, to spread fun and inspiration to an increasing number of Japanese anime, manga and gaming fans.

Accessibility

🌐 Accessibility Coordinator
Collaborate with other departments to address and deliver improvements for areas of accessibility (cognitive, neurological, physical, etc.) within Tokyo Alley events. Those with specialisation or experience in certain areas of accessibility work are encouraged to apply!
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Liaising with accessibility-aligned organisations
• Collating resources through deep research
• Reviewing areas of accessibility for other departments (in event, print, and digital)
• Managing on-the-day accessibility (including the quiet room and access desk)


Cosplay

🎀 Cosplay Coordinator
Be a part of Tokyo Alley’s most popular attraction, through assisting with the cosplay parades, meet ups, and competitions, including the exciting Nordic Cosplay Championship Australian qualifier in 2027!
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Enforcing and providing guidance on cosplay policies
• Assisting with cosplay applications and documentation
• Liaising with cosplay-aligned organisations and independents
• Managing on-the-day cosplay programming and prop check


Creative

🎨 Graphic Designer
Collaborate with other departments to respond to briefs and deliver on their design needs, while ensuring compliance with Tokyo Alley’s brand and aesthetic. Design briefs cover both digital and print platforms, proficiency in print exporting is required.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Develop and produce digital and print assets, including promotional materials, signage, and event collateral
• Create user friendly and compatible templates (in Canva)
• Prepare artwork for digital publication and print production by industry standards


Exhibitor

🪧 Exhibitor Coordinator
The bread and butter of Tokyo Alley events! Specialise in hosting artists, vendors, and/or community exhibitors, from applications to seeing your space come to life on the day.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Enforcing and providing guidance on exhibitor policies
• Administering exhibitor applications and documentation
• Reviewing exhibitor build requirements and layouts
• Managing on-the-day exhibitor needs and safety


🎪 Showfloor Designer
From the official Tokyo Alley booth, to every corner of the show floor; we are looking for a Showfloor Design to help design and manage exhibition spaces. Collaborate with other departments to create immersive and visual spaces, from overall signage to large-scale features.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Assist in creating the showfloor layout, galleries, and exhibitor spaces
• Manage the design and delivery of signage and print materials
• Support other departments to enhance their spaces through visual and spatial design


Guests

✈️ Guest Coordinator
Coordinate special guest appearances by managing communications, hospitality, and booking logistics both leading up to, and on-the-day of event. Host, and serve as the primary point of contact to provide support for guests during their entire stay, and after care.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Manage guest appearances, activities, and travel arrangements (including airport pick-up and drop-offs)
• Administering guest booking and documentation
• Host guest recreation out of event days/hours
• Ensure guest needs and safety


Marketing

📢 Marketing Coordinator
Help strengthen Tokyo Alley’s connections through networking and maintaining relationships with the community and other organisations. Help maintain our presence and collaborate with other departments in content creation to promote Tokyo Alley in digital and physical spaces.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Manage content creation for social media
• Organise both digital and print promotional deliveries
• Maintain relationships with other organisations
• Deliver on partnerships and sponsorships


⛩️ Japanese Culture Officer
Help strengthen Tokyo Alley’s Japanese culture representation through event activities and community relationships. Those with a background in Japanese culture or proficiency in Japanese language are encouraged to apply!
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Maintain relationships with Japanese-aligned organisations
• Coordinate Japanese culture activities and exhibitors


Operations

💻 Operations Officer
Provide on-site support to troubleshoot event operations by responding to live event updates and reports, and monitoring online feedback and inquiries from attendees.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Responding to attendee inquiries on-the-day through direct action or delegating on-site committee members
• Facilitate direct on-site committee/department communication
• Managing on-site committee resources, needs, and safety
• Liaise with on-site venue staff and personnel


💰 Accountant
Help manage financial administration and reporting to support accurate budgeting, record keeping, and compliance requirements. This position is on an as-needed basis and does not require regular participation or involved event planning. A background in accounting or finance-related experience is required.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Maintain accurate records of transactions, invoices, receipts, and financial documentation
• Assist with post-event financial reconciliation and financial summaries for stakeholders


Stage

🎤 Stage Coordinator
Oversee stage operations by coordinating performers, technical staff, and the event schedule to deliver a range of live programming, including music and dance, panels, streaming, cosplay events, and more.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Manage stage and tech operations
• Administering stage applications, documentation, and presentations
• Creating and managing the stage run sheet
• Ensure on-the-day performer and panellist needs and safety


📽️ AV Technician
Operate audio-visual equipment, including sound, lighting, and presentation systems, to support live stage programming. Deliver the technical requirements of performances and panel sessions while adapting to changing needs and troubleshooting issues. Those with existing experience in AV are encouraged to apply!
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Operate audio-visual equipment
• Provide technical support for performers and panellists
• Coordinate with stage coordinators and event organisers to deliver program requirements


Volunteer

🦺 Volunteer Coordinator
The backbone of Tokyo Alley events! Collaborate with other departments and manage a group of on-the-day volunteers through leadership and rostering. Foster a positive and supportive environment while addressing volunteer needs and coordinating event activations.
Key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
• Manage and lead on-the-day volunteers
• Administering volunteer applications and documentation
• Coordinate and maintain volunteer rostering
• Ensure on-the-day volunteer needs and safety


Other

🛍️ Merchandise Coordinator
Coordinate the production of event merchandise and resources, from overseeing department requirements and design, managing stock levels, and supplier relationships.
